Why does biology major Cailin Moira Wilke ‘06 love Mann Library?
No matter what your field, we hope that these reasons will connect you to Mann Library as well. Mann Library has an extraordinary collection of books, journals and online resources—from agriculture to zoology, from child development to gerontology, from biology to business. Many of our resources are available electronically, and you can connect to all of these in your dorm room or office.
Like Cailin, when you connect with Mann Library you’re likely to find that perhaps Mann’s best asset is its staff. The reference staff can help you find the information you need for your research—we answer thousands of questions each year from faculty, students, extension educators, and community members. Working on a mapping project? Mann Librarians can help you with GIS and other geodata systems. Need help on a plotting job, multi-media presentation, or video editing project? Student assistants at the Stone Center will gladly step up to serve. As one graduate student, Joseph Mensah-Homiah (PhD candidate, Nutrition), puts it “one of the best things to have happened during my stay here at Cornell was to be associated with Mann Library and to interact with the staff.”
Mann Library is in the midst of a major renovation project that will bring a high tech future to the main library, a building designed during the 1930’s in warm art deco style ….and built with 1930’s infrastructure—no air-conditioning, no network connectivity, no group study rooms. When the renovation of the main Mann Library building is complete in 2007 we will have a vibrant, central learning space on the upper campus that we’ll be excited to show you.
I hope you enjoy exploring our website, connecting to the staff and our resources, and taking advantage of the services we offer. If you have any comments, suggestions or questions, please be sure to get in touch with us. We’d be delighted to hear from you!
Sincerely,

Janet A. McCue
