Stone Classroom Guidelines
The primary mission of the Stone Classroom is:
- To serve CALS and CHE students' public access computing needs in accessing information.
- To facilitate Mann Library instruction in the access and use of information and to support Mann Library public affairs events.
- To accommodate Cornell-affiliated users who wish to provide instruction in the facility.
In order to balance our primary mission with the needs of the needs of students, patrons, and staff, the following guidelines apply to the Stone Classroom:
What we will support
- A Cornell-sponsored session of no more than four hours that uses existing hardware and software.
- Cornell-sponsored classes that need particular software installed. This must be arranged at least ten days in advance. Evidence of ownership of a sufficient number of licenses (30) for our stations must be shown.
- Only stable software releases (no beta versions) will be considered for installation.
What we will not support
- The Classroom may not be scheduled on a recurring basis. (e.g. every Thursday).
- We are not able to install any software that is to run primarily on our server.
- No trial or beta software will be installed.
- Workshops or classes offered when the library is not open.
- Classes and workshops offered during the two weeks preceding final examinations.
- Classes and workshops offered during final examinations.
- We will not make classroom reservation requests more than 1 month prior to the start of the semester. For example, if the Fall class schedule begins on August 28, the first day reservations will be considered will be July 28. Library-sponsored classes will be given first priority and will be scheduled before other classes. Confirmations will be sent to those making reservations. Final plans for use of the classroom on any specific date should not be made before such confirmation is received.
