BGT-31 GPS Unit

BGT-31 GPSThe BGT-31 is a compact GPS/data logger with a high accuracy SiRFstar III chipset. It has a simple LCD display for viewing menus, heading, location (coordinates), altitude and speed, but has no map display on unit. Its primary purpose is recording location and speed data to internal flash memory or SD/MMC card. It can also be connected/tethered via USB or Bluetooth for streaming data in real time directly to PDAs, phones, and laptops.

Loan Policies

Cornell students, staff and faculty can check out equipment with a valid Cornell ID. All equipment loans are limited to a maximum loan period of 4 days. More info on GPS loan policies is listed on the main GPS page.  GPS units can be reserved ahead of time or checked out on a walk-in basis. Use Policies and Procedures:

  • The BGT-31 has an internal rechargeable battery. Be sure to check charge before starting work. Adapters are provided for charging via USB, AC, or vehicle (DC).
  • Library staff will erase all data after each use -be sure to download data before returning.
  • Drivers and software are needed for connecting the unit to a computer. They are available on CD (comes with unit) or from the manufacturer Locosys.
  • A USB cable for connecting the GPS unit to a computer comes with the unit.
