GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Day is an annual event that showcases real world applications of this powerful technology.

Mann and Uris Libraries hosted the following GIS Day events:

  • Michelle Thompson (City and Regional Planning) and Karen Edelstein (Hobart and William Smith College) presented a workshop at Uris Library: "An Introduction to GPS Technology and Geocaching".
  • Mann Library hosted a poster and demonstration session and reception.
  • A drawing was held for prizes donated by Manifold, the Cornell Campus Store, and Cornell University Library.
  • Mark Monmonier (Department of Geography, Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University) gave the keynote talk: "A Brief History of Geospatial Technology: Customization, Control, and Unintended Consequences." Audio Video
